Welcome to the Botsotso Blog

Allan Kolski HorwitzWelcome to the blog of Botsotso Publishers; we publish poetry, short fiction, essays, plays (extracts) in any of the South African languages; please find out more about us by visiting our homepage.

Botsotso recently launched six new titles at Xarra Bookshop in Johannesburg, including Isabella Motadinyane’s collected poems, Bella. The launch doubled as a tribute to Motandinyane, who died in 2003, and was one of the founder members of the Botsotso Jesters poetry performance group. Ike Mboneni Muila has written a moving tribute to Isabella, which we republish here, along with photos from the launch.

Click here for more information on our new titles (scroll down toward the end of the page to find them).

And don’t miss the opening of Isis X, an exhibition of photographs and poetry by fourteen South African women, hapenning tonight at the Women’s Jail, Constitution Hill. The guest speakers will be Keketso Semoko and Odette Geldenhuys: click here for the exhibition invitation.
